The Need for a Simulator
In a typical training environment, the EIO sending and receiving entities would typically follow a setup, where A & B are real users (trainees/trainer) as presented below.
This is a setup that is suitable for live, face-to-face trainings; however, training should also cater, when possible, for any geographical or time restrictions. By using an automated system, TREIO additionally provides a setup, where B is replaced by the TREIO Auto-responder, which is more suitable for self-paced learning.
In this setup, a trainee can take advantage of automated responses to engage in pre-defined simulations designed specifically for training purposes.
These simulations were integrated in the TREIO training framework and further provided via the online training, thus users with no experience or access to e-CODEX and/or eEDES can now also get familiar with the relevant cross-border processes.
Architecture of the TREIO eEDES Simulator Environment
A full e-CODEX gateway was installed locally on an ISO 27001 certified data center. The TREIO eEDES Simulator (local installation) sends messages through this gateway and is available for training. It is important to note that no national implementation is required, thus trainees are welcome to use the TREIO eEDES Simulator environment even in cases where no local MS installation exists.
This eEDES Simulator is then able to communicate with another e-CODEX gateway (in this case, the e-CODEX CTP) for real-time training, as shown below.
In the above graphic, one can identify the following components:
- TREIO eEDES Simulator which includes the e-CODEX Gateway, the Connector, the custom CCDB and the local installation and configuration of the eEDES environment, and
- TREIO Auto-responder which is able to read and respond to e-CODEX XML messages, as well as send EIO cases.
Potential Users of the TREIO eEDES Simulator
The potential users of the TREIO eEDES Simulator are mainly EIO competent authorities across EU, EIO trainers, and professionals dealing with EIOs.
Gaining Access
TREIO e-Learning Courses, TREIO eEDES Simulator and TREIO Auto-Responder authentications are linked, as one common account is used for all interfaces. Therefore, one can either register for TREIO Online Training and/or get in contact with the TREIO Team providing information on their names, institution they represent and their position to validate their qualifications for gaining access.
