A TREIO Train the Trainer event aims to multiply the efforts of the project on national level by securing a second generation of trainers adopting the project reference training framework. The participants’ profiles for these cascading trainings referred to judges, prosecutors, and judicial bodies’ personnel supporting the work of the magistrates, with no limitations regarding their previous knowledge on EIO.
Train the Trainer - Netherlands was organized with the support of the Ministry of Justice of Italy (via the Italian School for Magistrates) and led by Italian Master Trainers in local language.
A half-day training introduced participants to the background of eEDES, key TREIO sessions related to using eEDES in EIO exchanges, and exchange of practices on EIO implementation. Due to the internal practices of the Italian School for Magistrates with regards to data protection considerations, access to eEDES demo environment and user manual were provided upon request to interested participants. Practical examples with real-life cases were shown to the audience during the event. The TREIO Team (via LIBRe) provided technical support to trainers and answered eEDES-related questions by the audience.
77 professionals took part in the session and they all received access to training materials. eEDES access credentials were provided to 55 interested professionals.
Feedback was positive considering the general lack of awareness regarding eEDES. The session was generally seen as beneficial for practitioners. Yet, some functions and workflow aspects of the system were found controversial and raised a heated discussion during the training session. Lack of clarity (at the time) on the eEDES implementation in Italy was seen as a downside.
